A new era is here for Drift Masters, and with it comes a new voice in the commentary booth. As Dave Egan steps away from the mic after 6 years to chase his own championship dreams on track in 2025, Canadian motorsports personality Jacob Gettins will take over the role as Drift Masters commentator alongside Ian Waddington for the 2025 season.
A fan-favorite in the drifting world, Gettins brings electrifying energy, expert insight, and unmatched storytelling—turning every moment into pure entertainment. Over the years Jacob Gettins has become a household name in the sport of drifting and his passion for the sport is unmistakable. Which is why we’re delighted to have Jacob bring his signature style to Europe and join the Drift Masters team in 2025, on our most ambitious season yet.
"I’m super pumped to get started in Drift Masters, and I’m honoured to be given this opportunity" said Gettins. "Dave Egan leaves some massive shoes for me to fill. I’ll be doing my best to keep the same energy, the same hype and the same level of information you’ve come to expect from Dave."
Gettins takes over from Dave Egan, who has been the voice of Drift Masters since 2018. But while he’s leaving the commentary booth, Egan is far from leaving the championship - he’s just switching roles. In 2025, Dave will compete as a driver in Drift Masters for the first time ever, stepping onto the grid to battle against the very drivers he’s commentated on for years.
"I've been in drifting for 15 years - for most of those 15 years I've spent it promoting other drivers or events but in the back of my head ive always wondered if I could become a Drift Masters level driver if I gave it my all, and now it’s time to live it firsthand," said Egan. "The level of competition in this series is unreal, and jumping into that fight will be the ultimate test. But trust me—Jacob is the perfect guy to take over my commentating role. Drift Masters is in good hands."
With a new voice calling the action and a former commentator now battling door-to-door with the rest of our grid, the 2025 Drift Masters season is set to be the most unpredictable, intense, and exciting one yet. The countdown is well and truly on.
