Conor Shanahan lit up Ferropolis on a scorching Day 1 in Germany, topping Qualifying with a near perfect 97.5 as the Drift Masters grid battled blistering heat, shifting grip levels, and a packed out crowd that turned the Iron City into a full blown drift festival. Fans splashed in the lakes under the sun, and as the day cooled, a glowing sunset gave way to a full lightshow above the track. In that charged atmosphere Conor seized the moment and put his title charge firmly back on track.

Tough Conditions for Drivers
For the drivers, the conditions were brutal. As the heat built through the afternoon the surface became unpredictable, catching many out. Then, as the sun dropped and the temperature cooled, grip levels suddenly increased, creating a whole new challenge. Initiation after dark proved especially tricky as the extra grip demanded absolute precision.

Top 3 Take Shape
When the scores were locked in, the Top 3 featured three of the biggest names in the championship fight. Conor led the way with his near-flawless second run, Piotr Wiecek fired back with a 97 on his first attempt, and Jack Shanahan stamped his name into the mix with a razor sharp 96.5 the first time around.

Pushing To The Absolute Limit
Conor’s lap stood out for its sheer speed and precision with barely a correction across the course. Piotr pushed hard to reclaim the top spot on his second run but went too aggressive on entry and left points on the table. Jack nailed his opening lap but pushed too far on his second, hitting the wall before quickly recovering to hold onto third and secure a place in the Showdown.

Standout Performances Down the Order
Further down the leaderboard there were plenty of standout stories. Czech driver Marco Zakouril delivered a blistering 93 point flyer to continue his strong season, while Duane McKeever overcame mechanical drama on his first run to put it all on the line with a clutch 91.5 and make the show.

Last Chance Heroics
The tightest escape came from Finland’s Jarkko Jylhä, who opened with a zero but scraped into 32nd place on his final attempt by just half a point, eliminating Benediktas Čirba in the process.

Showdown Kicks Off
The Qualifying Showdown only raised the intensity. Conor faced Pawel Korpulinski and edged him with a composed chase drive, while Jack advanced straight to the final with a bye run after Piotr stepped aside once again.

Brother vs Brother Final
That left an all Shanahan final under the lights and what followed was one of the battles of the season. The brothers went door to door with near impossible proximity, bringing the Ferropolis crowd to their feet. Both drivers emerged in great form but it was Conor who found the edge to seal the win and put a huge exclamation mark on his Day 1.

Championship Battle Tightens
For the championship fight the picture is now even tighter. Four of the top five in the standings qualified inside the Top 5 today, with James Deane in fifth, Jack in third, Conor in first and Piotr in second. With Conor’s near perfect day cutting into Piotr’s advantage, the stage is set for a blockbuster battle day in Germany.
